Executive Chef

Chef Josh Mitchell is the Executive Chef at Oak Steakhouse in Alexandria, VA, where he has been a part of the restaurant’s culinary team since 2018. Letting each high-quality ingredient speak for itself, including the extensive menu of a la carte Certified Angus Beef Prime and seasonal sides, Mitchell prides himself on utilizing simple, yet elevated techniques to create spins on traditional dishes. 

Before joining the team at Indigo Road Hospitality Group, Mitchell worked under celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan at her restaurants Chauhan Ale and Masala House in Nashville, TN. In just three years, he worked his way up from Line Cook to Sous Chef. In 2018, a year after they opened, Mitchell joined the team at Oak Nashville before making the move to Alexandria in July 2021. Now as Executive Chef, he leads the modern steakhouse’s menu, which features more refined, farm-to-table sensibilities with fresh, seasonal creations. 

Mitchell currently lives in Old Town Alexandria, just a few blocks away from the restaurant. In his free time, he enjoys catching a concert and traveling as much as possible.
