Daniel Schuettinger

Bar Manager

Born and raised in Bridgton, Maine, Dan got his start in the hospitality industry at the age of 16 when he began dishwashing at a local restaurant before progressing to busser then server. In 2014, continuing on his path in the restaurant industry, Dan transitioned to bartending, and his passion for the creative side of his profession was truly ignited. In 2004, Dan earned a BA from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts where he studied Theatre & Dramatic Literature and Hispanic Studies. Dan has spent many years behind the bar, honing and crafting his process at various restaurants, including Old Town institutions such as the Majestic, Restaurant Eve, and PX under renowned Mixologist Todd Thrasher, as well as in D.C. at Brothers and Sisters under Chef Erik Bruner-Yang. In June 2019, Dan joined the Oak Alexandria team as the bar manager where he enjoys the gratifying experience of continuing his beverage education, connecting with guests through cocktails, and developing new drinks for the restaurant’s seasonally rotating menu. Dan finds his inspiration from many sources – from song lyrics, to a newfound passion for a particular spirit, to his go-to reference book, the Flavor Bible. At Oak Alexandria, Dan enjoys the freedom to develop a comprehensive and unique beverage program that complements Chef Joseph Conrad’s ever-evolving dining menu. Dan’s guests can look forward to interesting seasonal libations and perfectly executed classics. When he’s not behind the bar, Dan can be found reading, spending time with family and friends, enjoying nature, writing, or catching up on TV and movies.
